Facundo is back

Look, if you asked me, what would you like to do for a living? I would have to say, unequivocally, I’d like to play music.

Do you feel connected to this statement?

I know many people in Austin who do.

We have all had to adapt to the environment, find jobs in tech, higher education, entrepreneurship, you name it. And yet, that music bug is still there, always bugging.

Now, some of these musicians are truly virtuosos. People like J. Serrato, for example. That guy can play and compose! He has also busted his ass playing in Austin with the best of the best, becoming a staple of the cool jazz scene, while always keeping his daytime gig.

Some of them are virtuosos and less known, like Scott Hofheins, the best drummer I have personally seen in my life, who chips away at his job and does his best as a father, while always loving an opportunity to beat those skins.

And there’s me, the mediocre poser who loves making and playing music, even though he can barely play anything.

So, Facundo is back.

My musical alter ego, which I have used to record and play music for almost 20 years now. A name that was whispered to me by the cosmos as I walked the streets of Austin, heartbroken by the breakup of my former band, Balistica, a project that certainly changed the course of my life.

In reality, Facundo has never gone anywhere. He has always been there.

It is just that now Facundo has a new simple website: www.iamfacundo.com

And some music up on Spotify.

And a desire to maybe record an Anthology album for next year.

Why not? Something that compiles everything I have always wanted to record.

A project that helps honor that spirit of wanting to make music that has connected me to Austin, and just the good ol’ times of being in a van, getting to a new town with good pals, and rocking the socks off of a crowd.
